A post it note is stuck on the cover of a battered journal. Bold black sharpie spells out the following:
If you are reading this, aliens are not real.
Collection of false alien sitings in rural town of [redacted]. Spring 2010. Entry 1
I’m pretty sure the fae figured out that people were on to them ages ago. The first ‘alien’ sighting was what, ten years to the day after the last disappearance? I guess they needed different lures and getting into that old tourist trap was probably really easy considering the dude who runs it (well…RAN it. Pretty sure the thing at the counter isn’t him) refused to put up the iron and use a fake name like I told him to. Should have taken his own advice about believing.
Anyway, that’s probably where they got the idea to trade in ethereal human beauty and glorious wings for grey skinned weirdos. Now we’ve got ‘aliens’ showing up all over the county trying to trade wishes for teeth and generally reveling in the fact that no one seems to be onto them yet. Well, no one but me.
are y’all ready for Endless Shrimp?
@deadwooddross commissioned me to do a little spec design work on their wonderful shramp aliens and here are the results.
up top is the
first shrimp sketch i really liked. the design was already pretty solid
so i worked on making dexterous but inhuman hands(?), and sketch
possible teeth stuff. also gave them plush pawpad feet because that’s
cute. also? whiskers.
next are two of the color/pattern possibilities i came up with complete with a
side view of possible hidden mouth under their little mask faces.
finally,
i was also asked to speculate on shramp fashion
but i don’t know the intricate deets of their culture so i mainly tried to
figure out how clothes work and came up with practical looks such as:
fancy goth, comfy trip to the grocery store at 2am, casual springtime,
and Cool Shrimp.
figuring out the iffy line between shirt and pants was interesting! also playing with piercings and Making A Hat Work made this a real fun commish.
more patreon aliens.
the third human/alien race I made. they’re pretty much pure space goth
aesthetic and follow the ‘wound’ theme but really they’re pulled from
the idea that it would be neat if a species could split it’s face/neck
down the middle and use the new halves as eyestalks to get a better view
of their surroundings. big goth space slugs.
last pic is some stuff about their eyes and their weird mouths. of course i did the most worldbuilding on them, they are the most ridiculous so i naturally gravitated to them. each side
chews food independently of the other with their weird toothy tongues. both sides talk and emote in unison however, only becoming slightly
un-synced with advanced age. they can survive if one side of their head
gets got but it isn’t the ideal situation and they’ll never function the
same again.
patreon stuff.
some aliens/space humans i thought up when i was trapped in bed, spruced up sketches of scribbly ideas. i had this idea for humans who went to space and became these different races that each had weird biology that mimicked mortal wounds. it was supposed to be less adorable than the sketches turned out but eh. maybe one day i’ll hit the body horror target i’m aiming for with them.
this first set was supposed to be based on beheading and disemboweling. fun times.
