he_walks wanted some cyber punk stuff with prosthetics  on patreon so i guess now is a good time to talk about the androids from my space adventure cyber punk/bio punk/body horror secret project.

The androids probably wouldn’t be called androids by anyone else, but that’s what Lea thinks of them as so it kind of stuck. She sees them when she’s scavenging for parts and sometimes they wander by the house. They watch her like curious animals, getting closer the longer she stays still. They never speak but they use a lot of body language and will tap on things or thump the ground to get her attention. Their bodies seem to be made up of discarded prosthetics fused and twisted up with random electronics and ship parts. The configuration of these bodies vary a lot, and most of them don’t even have dedicated places for ‘heads’. Sometimes one will acquire new parts but they always stay the same general shape. They also like to wrap themselves in colorful or patterned material. They don’t really react to different weather conditions unless it’s extreme heat or cold so Lea thinks they’re either using the cloth to help hold their guts together or they have some sort of ingrained aesthetic they’re going for. She can respect that.

They can be a little creepy with their strange junk pile bodies that move like living things, their habit of being Still for hours at a time, and their general existence, but Lea thinks they’re harmless. She’ll even let them have any useless junk they seem really interested in. Gorgon does not trust them and likens it to feeding dangerous wild vermin, but they already throw food scraps to the Big Worm so Lea feels like its not a big deal.

Fun facts: these two are named Spots and Jumper. They wander by the house the most and Gorgon got Big Mad when they found out Lea named them. Lea says it’s only nicknames so it doesn’t count.

Jumper picks up radio stations sometimes and will roll on the ground during particularly energetic songs or impassioned debate. Lea does not know if the rolling is good or bad.

Spots once crept into her workshop and sat beside her while she was sleeping for who knows how long until a phone call woke her up and her startled scream scared it back outside.

When they settle in one place they basically ragdoll collapse on the ground unless they’re really focused on something.

Lea suspects they’re way smarter than her, just maybe not human smart.

Android? Cyborg? No one could tell if the quips about being a particularly fashionable leftover settlement-prep unit from the start of the colony centuries ago, or the weird throwaway snippets implying a human past raising chickens were jokes or not. Both would account for their disdain towards  The Things That Looked Like Foxes that paced the border sometimes, but his dry humor made it so hard to parse.

from patreon. sometimes you just wanna draw a robit.
